Vermilion City Council Votes to Support Main Street Beach Revitalization Project

January 5, 2021

Western Reserve Land Conservancy applauds last night’s vote by the Vermilion City Council approving a resolution supporting the Main Street Beach Revitalization Project by a vote total of 6-1.

The following statement is from Andy McDowell, vice president of western field operations for Western Reserve Land Conservancy:

Vermilion deserves a world-class beach. We are excited to see the support from the City Council, the Mayor, and many Vermilion residents who are eager to implement plans for the revitalization of Main Street Beach – Rich Cochran, president and CEO

“This project has been years in the making and we are excited to see the support from the City Council, the Mayor, and many Vermilion residents who are eager to implement plans for the revitalization of Main Street Beach. Collaboration and partnership have moved this project forward and we are very excited to see our collective vision for the Main Street Beach become reality.

“Vermilion deserves a world-class beach. This project – which will create better parking arrangements, a new restroom and comfort station, greenspace, improved roads and sidewalks and greater access for everyone – will be an anchor for the entire city. Having the City Council’s support is a critical step towards a new and improved Main Street Beach.

“We look forward to continuing our work with the city and its residents to create a new public park and beachfront for current and future generations to enjoy.”
