Renee Boronka enthusiastically coordinates year-round nature-based learning opportunities for people of all ages. She is passionate about connecting people with nature through a variety of programs from hikes to workshops to special events. She enjoys creating thoughtful and memorable nature experiences, firmly believing that a deep understanding of our natural world leads to a lifelong commitment to its protection.
Renee has a broad knowledge of our natural world. Throughout her career, she has built strong relationships with biologists, ecologists, and natural resource professionals. As a result, she has a network of colleagues to engage in developing thought-provoking and rewarding educational programs. Her passion for nature and her ability to bring people together has led to her involvement in Nature Everywhere, an initiative to connect more children to nature. She is passionate about these connections being made early in life and close to home.
Prior to joining the team of the Land Conservancy, Renee spent twenty-five years with the Cleveland Museum of Natural History directing its Natural Areas Program. At the Museum she gained a well-rounded knowledge of natural history. From Botany to Zoology, she was exposed to collections and field research related to our region’s flora and fauna. In addition, she was involved in the ecological stewardship of the Museum’s 12,000-acre system of natural areas—giving her a background in natural resource management.
Renee earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources from The Ohio State University in 1993. From 2009 to 2021, she served on the Board of Directors of the Natural Areas Association (NAA). She currently serves as the chair of their Awards Committee.
Renee lives in the Detroit Shoreway Neighborhood of Cleveland with her husband Juliano and their rescued kitties, Benjamin and Trixie. She enjoys gardening, grilling, sewing, and reading. She has a particular fondness for gin and enjoys trying spirits from distilleries far and wide.
