Nate Terhune

Northeast Field Director

Nate is driven to bring the people of his region a high quality of service as they pursue any conservation opportunity. Nate spent his time growing up exploring the woods and marshes throughout his home state of Ohio. Fortunately, not much has changed as he can be found trekking with landowners through swamps, forests, farms, and marshes finding ways to preserve a family’s legacy with their land. Nate is passionate about engaging new people in the outdoor community and thinks the best way to do that is to bring new hunters out into the duck blind.

Prior to working for Western Reserve Land Conservancy, Nate spent 5 years managing the Mudhole Duck Club in Orrick, Missouri. There he worked on a 500-acre marsh doing wetland restoration, habitat management, general maintenance, and guiding all the hunts at the club. Before this, Nate worked as an intern for the Winous Point Marsh Conservancy in Port Clinton, Ohio. A common theme that any organization Nate has worked with in his professional career is that they have all been focused on conservation and protection of wetland habitat.

Nate holds an associate degree in Wildlife Management from Hocking College and a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University. He has a Certificate in Wetland Plant Identification from the Stone Lab on Kelleys Island through Ohio State University and is a class away from completing his Graduate Certificate in Wildlife Management from Oregon State University. He is always looking for new opportunities to learn and stay at the forefront of conservation.

Nate enjoys spending time with family and friends on his marsh in western Ohio. He loves hunting, fishing, and hiking with his family. Nate lives in his service area, in Geauga County, with his wife, child and dogs. At home Nate enjoys relaxing as a family, reading, or hosting friends and neighbors.

Connect with Nate and Western Reserve Land Conservancy to help provide the people of our region with essential natural assets through land conservation and restoration.
