Milan Tropf comes to Western Reserve Land Conservancy with an extensive government background. He has always wanted to be involved in the legislative process. Having grown up with multiple animals and spending a tremendous amount of time outdoors, Milan understands the importance of conserving land and habitats. Together, these passions create a strong presence for the Land Conservancy at the U.S. Capitol and Ohio Statehouse.
Milan is able to tackle challenges with a bipartisan approach. He can relate to public officials, but also to landowners and farmers. This allows him to serve as a liaison between the organization and public officials. He leads the Land Conservancy’s public policy efforts at the federal and state level while also administering the organization’s farmland preservation grant opportunities. Milan serves on the Healing Our Waters (HOW) Coalition Governing Board and belongs to the Ohio Lobbying Association.
Before joining the Land Conservancy in 2022, Milan worked at the Ohio House of Representatives for over six years. He served as Senior Legislative Aide to State Representative Tom Patton (Strongsville) for four years and worked in other roles with multiple House Speakers before that. Legislation he worked on included land banks, transportation, PTSD medical coverage for first responders, crisis care nurseries, and the state operating and capital budgets. His role also included working with state agencies on various needs for the district, administering a team of interns and committee staff, and dealing with constituent concerns. Milan was voted a top legislative staffer by the Cleveland Plain Dealer in 2020 and 2021. He also worked under Congressman Dave Joyce as an intern before joining the Ohio House in 2016.
Milan is a proud graduate from The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and minors in economics and history. He is an alum of the Cleveland Leadership Center’s OnBoard Cleveland Program that provides leadership training and personal development to young professionals in the Cleveland area.
Milan was born and raised in Geauga County. He lives in Chesterland with his rescue dog, Heidi. In his spare time, he serves on the Board of Trustees at Footprints Center for Autism in Lake County. You may also find Milan at one of the local public golf courses, a Special Olympics softball game, or at either a Guardians, Browns, or Buckeyes game outside of work hours.
