In her role as Senior Conservation Attorney, Brittany Matejka combines her passion for the outdoors with her legal expertise to help provide Western Reserve Land Conservancy with legal representation in all phases of the organization’s conservation and real estate transactions. As part of the Land Conservancy’s legal team, Brittany is responsible for the drafting of complex agreements, deeds, conservation easements, and other transactional and financing documents, as well as for the review of due diligence materials and the coordination of real estate closings.
In her 10 years with the Land Conservancy, Brittany has partnered with colleagues across the organization to further its mission. Her commitment to the team and high legal standards have helped drive the closing of hundreds of real estate transactions, which has led to the permanent protection of thousands of acres of vital natural areas.
Prior to joining the Land Conservancy in 2014, Brittany worked as an Assistant Director of Gift Planning for the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. She applies this strong knowledge of estate and tax planning principles to the drafting of gift agreements that help donors fulfill their charitable goals.
Brittany’s strong connection to the outdoors began as a young Girl Scout and was fostered during overnight camping trips with family and friends around the state. She is driven by a passion for protecting these natural places that cultivated her appreciation for nature in the hopes that future generations of northeast Ohioans can enjoy and experience the same wonder she once did out in the woods.
Brittany is a graduate of Cleveland State University College of Law and she earned a dual bachelor’s degree in political science and Russian and Central Eurasian studies from Wittenberg University. She serves on the board of the Coalition of Ohio Land Trusts and is a member of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association.
Brittany lives in Geauga County with her husband and their two young daughters. In her time outside of the office, she enjoys visiting the many special parks and outdoor spaces available in northeast Ohio with her family. She is also a voracious reader and enjoys traveling both domestically and abroad.
