Identifying the Problem

The accumulation of waste is not only a visual disamenity, but a potential health and environmental hazard that often attracts more dumping. As a part of this effort to combat dumping, the Land Conservancy conducted a windshield survey to observe and record any visible incidents of dumping in the footprint. During the windshield survey, trained Land Conservancy staff and interns drove throughout the footprint, surveying each parcel from their vehicles and stopping to take photos and record data at every parcel where dumping was identified.
