Tree Stewards Planting Leader Training, Summer 2023

What is a Planting Leader?

Planting leaders are a valuable asset at a tree planting. They are trained in proper tree care as well as volunteer engagement and education. As a Planting Leader, you will lead a small group of volunteers at our tree plantings. Responsibilities include teaching tree planting and care basics, providing friendly instruction, and maximizing volunteer engagement.

This workshop will include:

• Review of ROC planting program goals
• Review of proper tree planting and tree care techniques
• Step-by-step guide in leading volunteers throughout a tree planting, which includes:
  • Volunteer engagement strategies that keep everyone involved
  • Delivering a tree planting demonstration
  • Helping novice tree planters once they begin planting on their own

Completion of our Tree Steward Training is required before registering to become a Planting Leader. After you register, you will be sent the Zoom link for the session.
