The Monroe Street Cemetery is the second-oldest cemetery in the City of Cleveland. It is also the largest public greenspace in the Ohio City neighborhood. The Monroe Street Cemetery Foundation’s board worked in partnership with the City of Cleveland to plan a spring tree planting in the cemetery following a successful fall fundraiser to Regrow Monroe.
Trees being planted will recall the neighborhood history, cemetery lore, and add diversity to the tree canopy as the Foundation pursues Level 1 Arboretum certification. Volunteers will also help to maintain flowerbeds, pick up trash, and help us keep our cemetery beautiful.
Date and Time: Saturday, May 14 from 9 AM – 12 PM
Volunteer registration begins at 8:50 AM and the planting demo will begin at 9 AM
Location: 3207 Monroe St, Cleveland OH 44113
Details: Please come prepared to work with comfortable clothing and shoes that you don’t mind getting a little dirty.
