Nature Field Day for Kids: Monarch Tagging – Session 2 (Ages 7+)

September 18, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Let’s get outside Ohio! Each September, Monarch butterflies make their journey south to Mexico. They are often seen in great numbers along our Lake Erie shoreline, where they stop to rest and refuel. Join Naturalist Judy Semroc for a Monarch tagging event at the Cleveland Lakefront Nature Preserve. If weather conditions cooperate, we will see large numbers of Monarchs—awarding all participants a chance to tag a butterfly!

The 88-acre Cleveland Lakefront Nature Preserve (CLNP) is a unique urban natural area, located along the Lake Erie shoreline. The preserve provides access to nature for hundreds of thousands of people. CLNP is managed by the Port of Cleveland and adjacent to Cleveland Metroparks’ Lakefront Reservation, creating a large block of protected land that serves as a sanctuary for animals and migratory birds.

Participants will be contacted in the event of weather-related changes. All Land Conservancy events respect CDC guidelines and social distancing.
