Field Exploration: Owls

November 3 @ 4:00 pm - November 4 @ 11:00 am

Sunday, November 3 at 4:00 pm to Monday, November 4 at 11:00 am

Kelleys Island

Leaders: Judy Semroc, Naturalist; Tom Bartlett, Master Bird Bander; and Renee Boronka, Manager of Conservation Education & Outreach at the Land Conservancy

Join us for a unique overnight experience on Kelleys Island. Participants will join naturalist Judy Semroc and master bird bander Tom Bartlett at a banding station on the Island for an evening with the owls. These diminutive raptors will provide a memorable and informative nature outing. There is never a guarantee of seeing owls, but historically this is the best time of year to try. On Monday morning, we’ll explore the properties protected by the Land Conservancy on the Island—which totals 150 acres in conservation. Weather permitting, we’ll visit Tom again as he bands passerines in the morning. Birding and waterfowl migration can be quite impressive at Kelleys Island during this time of year.

Price includes overnight accommodations at a bed & breakfast on the Island and guided nature events. Participants are responsible for their own travel to and on the Island, as well as ferry fees and all meals other than breakfast on Monday morning. A detailed schedule will be sent to all participants.

Fee: Double room: $225/person. Single room: $350/person.
