Brett Rodstrom, Vice President of Eastern Field Operations, and
Andy McDowell, Vice President of Western Field Operations, will provide an insider’s view of coastal conservation. Northern Ohio boasts nearly 200 miles of Lake Erie shoreline, but only 17 percent of that land is publicly accessible. From Conneaut to Toledo, Ohioans define themselves by this Great Lake. Western Reserve Land Conservancy has been working along Ohio’s entire coastline to permanently protect properties that showcase the beauty and wonder of Lake Erie. During Discovery Thursday we will travel together from east to west learning more about Ohio’s northern coast. We’ll guide you through the process of how we identify and prioritize projects that will permanently conserve our dwindling coastline. We’ll also discuss how our work is mitigating the effects of a warming Lake Erie – the result of climate change – and shoring up some areas of eroding coastline.
“Discovery Thursdays” are highly informative and interactive presentations and discussions designed for insiders – trustees and other special friends – to take a deep dive into our work.
