Announcement: We are seeking accreditation renewal!

December 4, 2023

The land trust accreditation program recognizes land conservation organizations that meet national quality standards for protecting important natural places and working lands forever.

After becoming an accredited Land Trust in 2019, Western Reserve Land Conservancy is pleased to announce we are applying for accreditation renewal. A public comment period is now open.

The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, conducts an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs. We are committed to the land trust accreditation program as an avenue to strengthen its operations in order to lead to more effective land transactions, resulting in the permanent protection of some of our region’s most vital natural assets.

The Commission invites public input and accepts signed, written comments on pending applications. Comments must relate to how Western Reserve Land Conservancy complies with national quality standards. These standards address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust. For the full list of standards see http://www.landtrustaccreditation.org/help-and-resources/indicator-practices.

To learn more about the accreditation program and to submit a comment, visit www.landtrustaccreditation.org, or email your comment to info@landtrustaccreditation.org. Comments may also be mailed to Land Trust Accreditation Commission, Attn: Public Comments, 36 Phila Street, Suite 2, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. They may also be faxed to 518-587-3183.

Natural Areas Land Conservancy is an Ohio nonprofit corporation that was formed for the sole purpose of supporting Western Reserve Land Conservancy in the advancement of its charitable mission and purpose. As a “supporting organization” to the Land Conservancy under the Internal Revenue Code, Natural Areas Land Conservancy is also seeking accreditation renewal through the Land Trust Accreditation Commission. Comments on Natural Areas Land Conservancy’s application for renewal can be submitted at the links above as well.

Comments on the applications for renewal will be most useful by February 6, 2024.
