Ruth Swetland Eppig holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental biology from Smith College and is president of the Sears-Swetland Family Foundation, which she operates with her brother and children. Eppig is embedded in the philanthropic community, currently serving on the board of the Cleveland Institute of Art, as chairman of the Advisory Council of the Mary Ann Swetland Center for Environmental Health which resides at the Medical School at Case Western Reserve University, and serves currently on the Head’s Council of Hathaway Brown School. She lives in Bratenahl with her husband, Dr. Michael Eppig, an orthopedic spine surgeon. They have four children and five grandchildren so far. They are obsessive gardeners.
