Field Exploration: Moths

Thursday, August 14 from 7:30 pm – 10:30 pm (Rain date: Wednesday, August 27)
Sherwin Preserve
Leader: Judy Semroc, Field Biologist and Greg Cudworth, Naturalist
Spend an evening at the Land Conservancy’s Sherwin Preserve exploring the diversity of moths with Naturalists Judy Semroc and Greg Cudworth. We’ll set up different monitoring stations in the preserve using a variety of lights with different wavelengths. Participants can wander about the different light stations, learning about the moths that are attracted to the lights. Prior to sunset, we’ll have a brief session on the natural history of moths and take a short walk to the Chagrin River. Flashlights and a chair are a must for this nighttime event!
The Sherwin Preserve protects over 300 acres and offers amazing nature watching. Its ponds, streams, wet meadows, as well as a winding stretch of the Chagrin River, offer a diverse mix of habitats.
Advanced registration is required.
