Makayla Hubbard

Urban Programs Administrator

Makayla “MK’ Hubbard is a Cleveland native, born and raised in the Buckeye-Woodland neighborhood. MK’s love for Cleveland began at home, where she was raised by two City of Cleveland employees who informed her of the inner workings of the city’s infrastructure. In her sophomore year of high school, MK joined the Green Corps team through the Botanical Gardens. Working for Green Corps allowed MK to explore and appreciate the world of gardening and arboriculture. She returned for another summer as a student, and later returned as a farm assistant for an additional two summers in college.

She received her high school diploma from Cleveland Central Catholic, located in Slavic Village, in 2017 and attended John Carroll University where she earned a B.S in Psychology. Soon after graduating, MK joined the workforce as a mental health case manager. After two years in that position, she decided to pivot towards her true passion of planning and currently attends Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs. MK has interest in GIS, reforesting inner city neighborhoods, and equity development.

In 2023, MK joined the Thriving Community team to support and aid in the advancement of her community.
